Gambella. Anyuak Zone, May 23, 2016 (GMN) - Nyea Akway Agada, King of the Anyuak from Boma State in Pochalla area has urged his people to distance themselves from any conflict and live in peace with each other.
The king said this while addressing joining meeting in Gambella town. The occasion brought together senior officials from Boma State of South Sudan and Gambella Regional State chief, Anyuak, Nure,Murle elders and religious leaders to appealed for safe return of Gambella children and border security between Ethiopia and South Soudan. King reaches out to all Anyuak people as society to live in harmony among the divided counties of Pochalla in the following recent violence between people of Pochalla North and South.
King denied allegations that his own bodyguards were involved in the Pochalla fight, which took place and that killed dozens of people. He was responding to some reports published on social media and local newspapers linking his guards to the fighting.
But he criticized political leaders saying, “The government in Pochalla does not cooperate with the traditional leaders in the area.” He noted also, “The recent fight was politically motivated.”
